Emergency First Response: Be prepared for the unknown
How would you respond when faced with a medical emergency? The EFR course teaches you how to follow steps to provide emergency care by practicing skills in a non-stressful learning environment. All courses are supported by self-study manuals, videos and quick reference cards to enhance learning and allow you to start right away.
The Emergency First Response program teaches you how to deal with potentially life-threatening emergencies. Divers and non-divers will learn how to competently provide CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and primary care in any accident or emergency situation along with basic first aid skills (secondary care). The course combines knowledge and skill development and realistic scenario practice to help you acquire the knowledge, understanding and confidence to use your skills in the real world.
The course normally lasts 5-6 hours and is conducted over a single day. During the course, we'll cover:
- Scene assessment
- CPR and rescue breathing
- Barrier use
- Serious bleeding management
- Shock management
- Spinal injury management
- Injury and illness assessment
- Bandaging and splinting broken bones
