Expect to see wobbegongs, schools of bullseyes, crayfish, black cod and giant cuttlefish. Pop your head up into the bubble caves and then as you near the mouth of the cave, enjoy the silhouettes of thousands of fish, sea fans and of course - the resident Grey Nurse Sharks. You can also see huge green and loggerhead turtles, eagle rays, schools of pelagic, tropical and temperate water fish. Hammerhead and bronze whaler sharks are also spotted around Fish Rock from time to time, and there was even a whale shark sighting earlier this year.
We will be staying at Fish Rock Dive's beautiful newly renovated Spoonbill House. It sleeps ten comfortably and is right on the water - a short walk to the private jetty for morning boat departures. The trip is self-catered (food and drinks) apart from the surf 'n' turf BBQ (local meats and seafood provided by Fish Rock Dive Centre). The farmstay has kayaks and SUPs for adventures upriver and hammocks for those who just want to relax on the verandah after diving.
