Bare Island is one of Sydney’s top shore dives and all of us at Dive Centre Bondi love taking our divers down there to experience the magic beneath the surface. Home to the famous Weedy Sea Dragon and one of Sydney’s friendliest Blue Groupers it’s a dive site one shouldn’t miss. Sadly, as with many dive sites in Sydney, Australia and worldwide there is an issue with marine debris.

To make sure Bare Island remains a beautiful dive site we at Dive Centre Bondi have teamed up with Project Aware to Adopt a Dive Site.

How can you help us?

We are going to be holding regular Dive Against Debris events and we would like you to join us.

The day begins down at Bare Island where we brief the participants. After this the clean-up begins taking an hour which is followed by sorting through the debris collected and recording the data for Project Aware.

Everyone is welcome! You do not have to be a diver to participate in this event. Snorkelers and land foragers are all welcome. Remember, you do not have be beneath the surface to make a difference.

To finish of the day Dive Centre Bondi would like to thank all participants with a Dive Against Debris BBQ at the dive centre where we’ll be offering good old Aussie snags and burgers.

We are extremely proud to partner up with Project Aware in protecting our marine environment and would love to see you joining us.
