Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago

23 – 31 MARCH 2027

Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago

One of diving's last great frontiers.

800+ islands Up to 22 dives FREE Nitrox

One of diving's last great frontiers.

Closed to the outside world until 1997, Myanmar's Mergui Archipelago — over 800 islands scattered across 12,000 km² of the Andaman Sea — remains one of diving's last great frontiers, relatively unexplored and undiscovered.

The islands remain almost entirely uninhabited, except for the Burmese sea gypsies. This off-the-beaten-track destination has been built from limestone, creating a labyrinth of caves and swim-throughs, with a scattering of granite pinnacles ringed by soft and hard corals in beautiful colour.

Diving the Andaman Sea here means the chance to come face to face with whale sharks, manta rays and barracuda, while the macro life delivers frogfish, seahorses, nudibranchs, crabs and shrimp — and blacktip and nurse sharks often cruise alongside divers. With isolated pinnacles, caves and exclusive dive sites all to yourselves, the Mergui Archipelago and the Burma Banks offer some truly breath-taking diving. We can't say you're definitely going to see whale sharks, but they're there.

You'll explore the Mergui Islands aboard the M/Y Thailand Master, a classic timber phinisi under her signature red sails. Seven cabins carry a small group in comfort, with spacious dive decks, an easy-going saloon, and four dives a day on days 2–6, then two dives on day 7 — up to 22 dives across the trip.

Note: We have carefully chosen only twin-share cabins for our guests — no quad share. The trip price reflects this and means you'll be sharing with just one person, not three.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to the most common questions about our courses, scheduling, prerequisites, and gear.

How do I secure my place?
Dive Adventures require an AUD$1,500 deposit. Additional instalments can then be made periodically leading up to departure.
What's included?
One night in Phuket, return overland transfer to Ranong, 7 nights twin-share aboard M/Y Thailand Master, up to 22 dives, tanks, weights, belts and dive guide services, all meals and soft drinks, and FREE Nitrox for the whole trip.
What's not included?
Flights to Phuket, travel insurance, meals other than those specified, Marine and Port Fees (USD$280), Visa Fee (USD$50), alcoholic drinks, and tips or gratuities.
Will I be sharing a cabin with three others?
No. We have deliberately chosen only twin-share cabins, so you'll be sharing with just one person. The trip price reflects this.
Can you help with flights?
Yes. You're welcome to book flights to Phuket yourself using miles or points, but if you'd like a hand we're happy to organise them for you — just ask.
Should I get my Nitrox certification first?
Nitrox is free for the whole trip, so it's well worth completing your Enriched Air (Nitrox) certification beforehand. Contact us and we'll sort it out.
Will we definitely see whale sharks?
We can't promise it — these are wild animals in open ocean. But whale sharks, manta rays and barracuda are all regular sightings here.
What about equipment rental or a refresher dive?
Get in touch with Dive Centre Bondi and we'll organise rental equipment, certification top-ups or a pre-trip refresher dive.
What if I need to cancel?
This trip runs through our travel partner, Dive Adventures, so cancellation terms differ from our standard policy — see their Terms & Conditions. We strongly recommend travel insurance.
