They share the same hull, the same speeds and the same 100m depth rating — 45 metres per minute at cruise, 70 at full speed. What separates them is the battery. The VR Quantum carries the largest pack at 585.7 Wh, giving roughly 90 minutes at full speed or 220 minutes cruising, and around 6.3 to 10 km of range. The VR Voyager runs a smaller 355.6 Wh pack — roughly 60 to 130 minutes and 4.2 to 6 km — but that battery is IATA UN38.3 certified, which is what makes it the one you can fly with.

If your diving is here in Sydney and you want the longest possible run time, the Quantum. If you are taking it to Truk or the Philippines, the Voyager — a scooter you cannot get on a plane is not much use on a trip. Come and talk to us about where you are planning to dive.

70 metres per minute flat out, 45 at cruise. That sounds modest written down, but underwater it covers ground quickly, and it is around the practical limit before drag and gas consumption start working against you.

We would strongly recommend it. A scooter changes your gas planning, your buoyancy and how far from your exit you can end up. We run guided DPV dives and the GUE DPV 1 course, and we would rather your first scooter dive had someone alongside you.
